Never leave a candle burning unattented. 02. Keep lighted candles away from children and pets. 03. Avoid burning candles near combustable items. 04. Store candles in a cool, dark, dry place when not in use. they should be stored flat to avoid warping. 05. Before a party, light and extinguish the candles. This way they light more quickly and easly later. 06. Avoid putting candles in a draft so they won't burn uneven and rapid, and will not drip as much. 07. Keep wicks trimmmed to 1/2 inch. Long or crroked wicks cause uneven durning and dripping. 08. Clean solid candles with nylon, or a soft cloth wiht salad oil on it. 09. To remove eax from washable fabrics, scrape off excess wax, then run boiling water on the fabric. 10. Remove wax from holders by running hot water on them. 11. Candles refrigirated before using will burn more slowly and evenily. Before refrigeration wrap in foil or wax so the wick does not absorb moisture. 12. Votive candles will clean easily if you add 1/8 inch of waterto the glass before inserting the candle. 13. Candles will fade if left in the light for an extended period of time. Never put candles in a winow or directly in the light of indoor or outdoor sources. 14. Candles should be burned only in proper holders or bases. 15. Extinguish candles when they get within two inches of theyir holders or bases. 16. When blowing out a candle, hold your finger in front of the flame and blow it out. the air flow around the finger will extinguish the candle flame from both sides and prevent hot wax slattering. 17. If a wick becoomes too short to light, carve away enough wax to expose the fresh wick, then trim 1/4 inch off teh top of the candle and burn the candle to reform it's apperance. (Tapers should not have this done, they are the one exception.) 18. Keep votive wicks centerd and trimmed to 1/4 inch while burning to prevent breaking the glass. (National Candle Association) 19. For scented canldes burn three to four canles per lighting. 20. Burn votive candles in a votive holder. 21. Dust candles as you would any other decoration. 22. Keep an eye on burning candles.
